Save This Shit, Yo!
thanx to becca klaver we are aware of the 24 hour “We Will Not Be Sushed” read-in this weekend at the Brooklyn Public Library (Grand Army branch, nach). the vowel movers will be there to report on the comings and goings of all the bk literati. expecting the safran foers seems like wishing extra hard. but–let’s face it–alex and simon of real housewives and eugene mirman will probably be there and that all seems worth it, somehow.
for once, burying your face in a book and reading aloud = A C T I O N.
YOU KNOW YOU WANT TO IF YOU LIVE IN THE NEW YORK AREA!
hear the cry, grab a slot, throw your body into the cause (cue the Battle Hymn of the Republic):
We are asking New Yorkers to join us for 24-hours of continuous public reading in support of our public library systems. The Read-In will be held in front of the Brooklyn Public Library’s Central Library at Grand Army Plaza. For 24 hours straight, in 20 minute increments, public library supporters will read from books of their choosing. As a reflection of the wide range of information to be found in our libraries, and the amazing diversity of New York City’s library patrons, readings will range from poetry to economics, history to romance, and include late-night scary stories and a Sunday morning storytime for children.
