Yes, friend, “The Want” is a horrible title for your manuscript

It’s book contest season! And you know what that means: MAD bitches are sending out books called “The Want” or “Swoon” and editors all over are vomiting just a little in their mouths.  And then, immediately moving on to feeling really bad for you and your 45 poems about the current state of your heart which was most recently broken by a dyslexic drummer in a 90s cover band.  hot.

but what’s not so hot are the below titles, which the VQR reveals as the top 10 most common submission titles they’ve received since ’07:

  8. Home
  9. Sonnet
  10. Sleep
