david orr’s the greatness game got a lotta attention a few weeks ago. too bad the NYT printed a correction this week.
The On Poetry column on Feb. 22 referred imprecisely to a distinction John Ashbery earned with the publication of a book of his poetry in October. While he is the first living poet to be honored with a volume in the Library of America series, he is not the first living poet to have a collection published by the Library of America. It previously published a collection of poems by Samuel Menashe in its American Poets Project series.
noooooo. oh, sorry. the answer we were looking for is “who is samuel menashe”. still your board, david.
