“And that’s how people connect with poems!”

January 23, 2009

Vowel Movers would like to thank Stephen Colbert for asking the important questions to our inaugural poet, Elizabeth Alexander:

how many of your poems can be sung by cats?
poems aren’t true are they?
what’s the difference between a metaphor and a lie?

in reference to the romantic poets:
instead of ’shall I compare thee to a summer day’ why didn’t he say ‘you’re hot, let’s do it, let’s get it on?’ Colbert continues, I got a mountain in my pants and that is not a metaphor, that is not a lie.

we have a lot to say.we will say this: ummmmmm is it just me and the amount of sour skittles and warm Sparks that i’ve been consuming (ok, it is warm AND flat Sparks), or is she talking to him like he’s 5? please answer in the comments stream.
