Poetry For The Tough Times edited & with foreward by Rod Blagojevich

December 20, 2008

YOU may not be the next inagural poet, Rudyard Kipling, but you’re having the BEST WEEK EVER!

the vowel movers have voted you “Most Politically Viable Poet of All Times”, and we feel vindicated by the NPR article you’ll find linked here. apparently, when some of our most profoundly fucked politicians are forced to admit just how deep in it they are, they turn to your poem If.

the latest is embattled Illinois  governor Rod Blagojevich, who from a packed conference room in Chicago, found the strength he needed in the line, “If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you”.   awwwww, poetry, you’re always there for us.  rod, not so much.

fyi blago: you’re no dennis hopper
